Is it possible to apply for (and actually get) food stamps online?
I know you can apply for food stamps online but can you actually be approved for them online and even be sent a food stamp card in the mail or do you have to go into the office once your online application has been approved?. In other words, can the entire process be done completely online (ie; apply…get approved…receive a card in the mail…start buying food with it)?.

I don’t know if the states all have different rules, but I am almost certain you have to have at least one face to face intake interview. If you apply online, you are probably sent a time or day to show for that interview. To do anything less would be to invite more fraud than there already is. You have to have proof af income, address, etc.– Hope this helps.

No, you have to go in and show them your ID, birth cert. and social security card. If you work then you need to take in a few recent pay stubs. They will photo copy that and give you back the originals.
add – Yes, even if you work you can get food stamps. In fact even military families collect food stamps. My husband makes a bit under 30k and our family of 4 would collect about $25 a month if we bothered with the paperwork. People living on minimum wage and have children routinely collect food stamps.

You have to go into the office to actually finish the process though. If you work, forget about it. You won’t qualify.
